Apparently the Pineapple Bucket Hats Are Officially “A Thing” Now 🍍👻

What started as a one-time ridiculous private tour idea has apparently evolved into recurring Charleston haunted pub crawl lore.
And honestly?
I could not be happier about it. 😭
It started when one private group requested:
southern hospitality,
Charleston beauty,
and a haunted pub crawl experience…
All blended together into one night.
Naturally, my brain immediately went:
“Well obviously this calls for pineapple-themed chaos.”
Because in Charleston, the pineapple symbolizes hospitality.
And if you’ve toured with History, Haunts, & Hahas! before, you already know I occasionally make completely reasonable professional decisions like:
dressing as a pirate,
becoming a haunted faerie,
wearing prairie ghost dresses,
or fully committing to being haunted produce for an evening.
So yes.
I became a pineapple.
And because apparently moderation is not one of my personality traits, I also made matching pineapple-themed bucket hats for the entire group. 🍍👒
INCLUDING variations.
Because this was a mixed family-and-friends group with guys and girls, and I remember thinking:
“Okay… the black bucket hats need to feel slightly less ridiculous and slightly more masculine.” 😭
So there I was:
customizing pineapple hat aesthetics,
planning haunted pub crawl routes,
coordinating Charleston beauty spots,
and somehow taking this VERY seriously.
And honestly?
The group absolutely leaned into it.

That’s the thing I love most about private tours.
People start the evening polite and slightly reserved…
…and then slowly descend into:
matching hats,
inside jokes,
haunted pub crawl chaos,
dramatic group photos,
and wandering Charleston together like a tiny pineapple-themed paranormal social club.
And the funniest part?
About a month later…
Another couple booked a tour. It was actually a guest who came back after I hosted her private tour bachelorette party (which was recommended to her after her parents had taken my tour). This time, she was bringing her spouse back to take the tour for their one year wedding anniversary.
I gave them multiple souvenir hat options to choose from.
And without hesitation?
They BOTH picked the pineapple bucket hats too. 🍍😭

And THEN, she recommended one of her companions from her bachelorette party private tour bring THEIR spouse to take the tour, too! And guess what hat she wanted…. 🍍
Which means these hats have now officially crossed into recurring tour tradition territory.
Honestly, I think people love them because they perfectly capture the vibe of the tours themselves.
Yes, we discuss real Charleston history.
Yes, we cover hauntings, folklore, strange experiences, hidden alleyways, and research-driven ethical storytelling.
But the tours are also about:
✨ connection
✨ laughter
✨ feeling welcomed
✨ shared memories
✨ and the kind of weird little moments people talk about long after vacation ends
Because years from now, people might forget the exact timeline of a ghost story…
…but they WILL remember wandering beautiful Charleston streets at night wearing matching pineapple hats while their guide was dressed like a haunted fruit. 🍍💀
And honestly?
That feels very Charleston somehow.
Elegant.
Atmospheric.
Historic.
Beautiful.
And just self-aware enough to have fun with itself.
👻 Haunted history
🍍 Southern hospitality
🍻 Haunted pub crawl chaos
📚 Ethical storytelling and research
😂 Genuine connection and comedy
🩷 Locally owned small business
👒 Matching pineapple bucket hats have now become recurring lore.
(Now that they are sold out, I’ll probably look at ordering some additional variations of the pineapple hats. So, if these fit your niche, stay tuned!
