👻🌿 The 4:20 Haunted Pub Crawl (21+)
Charleston’s Most Ridiculous Ghost Tour (Guided by a Towel)

What happens when Charleston haunted history, a perfectly timed 4:20 start, and a tour guide dressed like a very suspiciously familiar blue towel come together?
You get the 4:20 Haunted Pub Crawl — a walking tour blending ghost stories, historic pubs, comedy, and snack stops through the haunted streets of Charleston.
This experience combines:
👻 Charleston ghost tour storytelling
🍻historic pub stops
🍟quick snack opportunities
😂comic relief throughout the night
All delivered in the spirit of History, Haunts, & Hahas! — where history, hauntings, and humor meet.
🍻 What to Expect
This is not a food tour and it’s not a bar crawl designed for heavy drinking.
Instead, it’s a Charleston haunted pub crawl designed to move at a relaxed pace while stopping at historic bars and pubs along the way.
Expect:
haunted history and folklore
bizarre Charleston stories
pub stops to relax and socialize
quick snack opportunities
plenty of laughter
And yes…
Your guide may or may not be dressed like Towelie.
🚶 Tour Structure
The evening is structured in 2.5 hours where guests can enjoy both historic walking and comfortable breaks.
Tour Start
🕓 Approximately 4:20 PM
Stop 1 — First Bar / Pub
Welcome and orientation
First haunted stories
Opportunity to grab a drink or snack
Walking Portion #1
🚶 25–35 minutes
Leisurely stroll through historic streets
Storytelling stops along the way
Stop 2 — Second Bar / Pub
Break for drinks or snacks
More haunted Charleston history
Walking Portion #2
🚶 25–35 minutes
The longer storytelling stretch of the route
Stop 3 — Final Bar / Pub
Final stories
Relax and wrap up the evening
If you’d like to enjoy a full meal, the third bar stop is the perfect opportunity. Once the final stories conclude, the tour officially ends there and you are no longer on a schedule.
Guests are absolutely welcome to stay, order dinner, and relax at the final stop.
🚶 Total Walking Distance
The total route is about one mile.
It’s broken into:
two half-mile walks
25–35 minutes each
Between the walking portions we stop at pubs, so the pace stays comfortable and relaxed.
Still, please make sure you’re comfortable with about one mile of walking total.
🍟 Snackable Pub Stops
The stops along the route are perfect for quick bar snacks that arrive fast and are easy to enjoy before continuing the tour.
Typical options include things like:
French fries or truffle fries
pretzels with beer cheese
nachos
chips and dips
other small shareable appetizers
Nothing heavy.
Nothing that slows down the tour.
Just classic pub snack energy.
🍪 A Taste of Charleston
Depending on the evening’s route, guests possibly may also pass a location where they can grab a quick local sample.
Two classic Charleston treats include:
Benne Wafers
Pralines
They’re small, historic, and perfectly Charleston.
🍦 Ice Cream, Sweets & Chill-Adjacent Curiosities
One stop along the route is the lively Henry’s On The Market.
Right next door is Off Track Ice Cream, where guests can grab ice cream, sweets, or snacks.
The shop has also been known to carry various CBD-related products and novelty relaxation items.
In other words…
Ice cream, desserts, and a few curious little extras.
⚖️ “Covering Our Asses (and Yours)”
Let’s talk briefly about Charleston laws and common sense.
The Other Stuff
Certain herbal extracurricular activities are not legal in South Carolina.
Your guide:
does not sell anything
does not distribute anything
does not facilitate anything
And while your guide might not care what someone may or may not allegedly be enjoying…
the city definitely might.
So please be aware of local laws and behave responsibly.
🍹 Charleston Outdoor Drinking Rules
Charleston has strict open-container laws.
🚫 You cannot walk around downtown drinking alcohol.
However, some items are technically categorized as food, not beverages.
Examples include:
booze pops
Jell-O shots
frozé pops
wine slushies
alcoholic ice cream
prosecco pops
So while you can’t drink alcohol on the street, certain edible alcohol treats are allowed.
Charleston law can be quirky like that.
🍷 Possible Wine Slushie Stop
Depending on the route, we may stop for wine slushies, affectionately known as: “Adult Capri Suns.”
They’re perfect for the longer walking stretch.
Just remember:
🍹 Food and drinks are NOT included in the tour price.
Guests are welcome to purchase whatever they like along the route.
💧 Hydration Policy
Your guide will bring bottled water for guests in case anyone gets dry mouth.
However, Charleston establishments that sell food or drinks cannot allow outside beverages inside.
So when we enter a bar you’ll need to:
finish the bottle, or
place it in a bag until we leave the establishment
Once we’re back outside, hydration may resume.
🪪 Bring Your ID
Charleston bars require identification.
If you plan to order anything alcholic at our stops, please bring:
✔ a valid government ID
No ID = no service. Some places won’t even let you in the door without ID.
👟 What to Bring
Charleston weather can be unpredictable, so a few items can make the tour much more comfortable:
comfortable walking shoes
lightweight layers
a collapsible umbrella
a handheld fan or mister fan if you really want to beat the humidity
Charleston summers can be… enthusiastic.
♿ Accessibility Options
If you need accessibility accommodations, please let me know in advance.
I’ve partnered with Charleston Bike Taxi so guests with mobility challenges can still enjoy the tour.
Important notes:
Bike taxi fares are not included
Payments go directly to the taxi company
The tour guide receives no portion of those fares
The goal is simply to ensure everyone has a way to experience the tour.
🌙 The Bottom Line
On the 4:20 Haunted Pub Crawl you’ll experience:
👻 haunted Charleston history
🍻 historic pubs
🍟 snackable bar food options
🍧 possibly an adult Capri Sun stop
😂 ridiculous comedy
